FAQ's

Bonds
Bonds can be paid anytime but detainee holds can affect immediate release. Bonds can be paid with cash, surety or credit card depending on the arrest charges.
Cash bonds: must be paid in exact cash. No other form of payment can be accepted. A state-issued picture ID is required for processing cash bonds.
Surety bonds: An approved, licensed, bonding agency must conduct the transaction. Typically, the agency’s fee is 10% of the surety bond amount plus a $5.00 processing fee.

Visits
Inmates are allowed visitors only after having been detained for five full days. Visits are on a first-come, first-serve basis. We do not allow early check-ins. Visitors must have a state-issued picture ID. Each visit is 15 minutes in duration and can be terminated by jail staff for inappropriate behavior. Cell phones are not allowed in the visitation room. Visitors cannot be on probation or parole or have been incarcerated, anywhere, within 6 months of the desired visitation date. Only one minor is allowed with the approved visitor. You may also set up an account with Securus to schedule a visit from your home. To set up an account with Securus, please visit www.securustech.net.

Visitation days/times:
 Mondays: 6:30pm-9:00pm
Wednesdays: 9:00am-11:00am and 6:30pm-9:00pm
Saturdays: 9:00am-11:00am, 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:30pm-9:00pm
Sundays: 9:00am-11:00am and 6:30pm-9:00pm

Commissary
Commissary funds can be added to accounts three different ways.  You may bring cash or a Visa or MasterCard to the jail and utilize the lobby kiosk.  You can also use a Visa or MasterCard to add funds to an account by calling (866)345-1884 or visiting AccessCorrections.com.  All funds must be received by midnight on Sundays to be available for all commissary purchases.  Inmates may purchase phone cards through in-house commissary bi-weekly. The cost is $10.70 per card for approximately 3, 15 minute calls. Besides in-house commissary, inmates may order from Keefe Commissary on a weekly basis.

Inmate Property
Inmates may release property to a citizen of their choice. An inmate must complete a Property Release Form. The designated person may pick up property Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm. You will need to show a state-issued picture ID. If an inmate is transferred to the Department of Corrections (DOC), property must be picked up within 60 days of the transfer or it will be destroyed. After being incarcerated, a released detainee can come to the jail to pick up his/her belongings to include: medication and money from the commissary account. Identification verification required.

Mail
Inmates may send and receive mail during regular postal days and times. To write to an inmate, you must include his/her full name, our address and a full return address. Such as:

Envelope

Inmates may only keep 10 personal letters in their possession. Any excess will be placed in their property. All mail is checked for contraband. Books and magazines can be mailed as long as both are sent directly from the publisher. Otherwise, paperback books can be dropped off at the jail. ALL BOOKS ARE DONATED TO THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY JAIL. The inmate will be allowed to read the book but it will then be turned in and circulated through the jail library. NO EXECPTIONS. Inmates may only have 3 books in their possession at any given time. This includes a bible or other religious text.

Inmate Clothing
All clothing and hygiene is provided to the inmates. They may not have any clothing or hygiene dropped off for them. Any extra clothing and hygiene items can be purchased from Commissary. To be allowed to wear dress clothing to appear at court, an inmate must formally request such an order from the courts. Otherwise, they will appear in Jail-issued clothing.

Medical
The inmates are provided medical care through a contracted, correctional healthcare corporation, exceeding the requirements of the Indiana State Jail Standards. All medication, already prescribed or newly prescribed while incarcerated, must be approved by the jail physician. Medication that is not approved will not be dispensed and will be placed in the inmate’s property. The medical nurse dispenses medication twice daily and is available 40 hours a week to see to the needs of medical issues. The jail doctor is on site once weekly but a doctor is constantly on-call and can be contacted by staff, 24-7. Medicine can be dropped off anytime but must be in the original container, as dispensed from the pharmacy.

Emergency Contact
To make emergency contact with an inmate, contact Lt. Randy Deneau. Lt. Deneau will determine the legitimacy of the emergency and speak directly to the inmate. Messages cannot be relayed to inmates through jail staff.

Funerals
Inmates will only be transported to a funeral if there is a transport order from the judge. An inmate may write the judge to request such an order.

Spiritual Guidance
Inmates may request spiritual counsel for any reason. Specific ministers/spiritual counselors may have to fill out an application, to be approved to visit an inmate.  Ministers/counselors will need to schedule an appointment for visitation.

Arraignment and Court Hearings
Court dates are not provided in advance of the Initial Hearing if the detained person does not bond out. Transport to the Montgomery County Courthouse is provided to the inmate once the courts contact jail staff for an initial hearing, same day.
