The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office currently has two, dual-purpose canines. These dogs have been expressly bred and disciplined in detection of narcotics, making them an unquantifiable asset to the Sheriff’s Office. Our K-9 units, Ramzes and Jax are both five-year-old, male German Shepherds who have explicit training in narcotic detection, tracking and handler protection. Deputy Riehle (handler for Ramzes) and Deputy Crull (handler for Jax), have extensive and ongoing training to make use of these special deputies.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office maintains close cooperation with area public schools and surrounding law enforcement agencies. Our K-9 units complete several school searches each year and routinely assist the probation department, community corrections and various other agencies.
